Job summary

Aviation Institute of Maintenance in Norfolk, VA is seeking an Aircraft Maintenance Instructor (A&P Mechanic) to deliver FAA Part 147-aligned curriculum and provide hands-on instruction to students preparing for A&P certification.

This role suits experienced A&P mechanics who want to mentor others and work in a classroom and active hangar environment. Two schedule options: Days and Nights.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree in aviation or related field preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of aircraft maintenance experience.
• FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate required.
• Strong knowledge of aircraft systems.

Responsibilities

• Teach aircraft maintenance systems in hands-on environment.
• Deliver FAA-aligned curriculum to prepare students for A&P certification.
• Maintain attendance, grades, and student progress records.
• Support curriculum updates with program leadership.
• Create a structured, engaging, and safety-focused learning environment.
• Maintain classroom and lab equipment and training materials.
