STS Technical Services is now hiring experienced A&P Mechanics in Rome, New York, to support an exciting, short-term maintenance project on a 1959 C-130 B Model aircraft. This role is a great fit for licensed professionals with a background in military or government aviation maintenance—especially those familiar with legacy models of the C-130.

About the Role

As part of a dedicated maintenance crew, you’ll perform inspections, troubleshoot systems, and support mechanical readiness for a historic aircraft. This project offers a unique opportunity to work hands-on with a legacy B Model C-130, while enjoying full support for travel, meals, and lodging.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct maintenance, inspections, and structural repairs in line with FAA and military standards
  • Troubleshoot airframe, powerplant, fuel, and hydraulic systems
  • Maintain accurate and compliant documentation of all performed tasks
  • Collaborate with other maintenance teams including sheetmetal and avionics to meet tight schedules
  • Ensure full adherence to DOT-regulated work protocols
Required Qualifications
  • Current and valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license
  • At least 3 years of aircraft maintenance experience, with preference given to those with military aviation backgrounds
  • Hands-on knowledge of C-130 aircraft, particularly B, E, or H models
  • Strong proficiency in aircraft hydraulic systems and diagnostics
  • Must be eligible for DOT-regulated employment
  • Willingness to travel and fully commit to the project’s 2–3 month duration
  • Lodging, daily meals, and travel expenses fully covered
