Supervisor: Director of Maintenance
Compensation: Full-Time Hourly
Primary Responsibility:
The A&P Mechanic-Lead Technician is overall responsible for the quality of products in the maintenance department. Assures all aircraft inspections and maintenance are completed in accordance with regulatory requirements, manufacturers’ recommendations, company procedures and customer requirements prior to releasing the product for return to service.
Essential Functions:
- Serves as primary aircraft inspector for annual inspections, 100-hr inspections, aircraft, engine & component repairs.
- Monitor technician maintenance activity and ensure current technical publications and maintenance checklists are being followed.
- Assist technicians with troubleshooting, inspections and repairs.
- Reviews maintenance records of work performed and assures proper handling of all aircraft permanent records.
- Assures all work order packages are completed (including discrepancy forms, parts request forms, part certification forms) and inspection checklists are retained and filed in accordance with applicable FARs and company requirements.
- Prepares log entries as required and assures proper execution of FAA forms and/or maintenance releases as required.
- Assures proper execution of FAA form 337 for Major Repairs & Alterations and participates in the determination of such.
- Assists Director of Maintenance in maintaining the tool calibration program.
- Participate in receiving inspections as necessary.
- Performs AD research on incoming aircraft.
- Assembles required inspection packages.
- Assists in performing Maintenance Department training and maintaining training records.
- Ability to perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance.
- This position will assume Director of Maintenance responsibilities in his/her absence.
Job Qualifications
- Knowledge and familiarity with inspection methods, techniques, practices and procedures.
- Working knowledge of CFR 91, 135 & 145 regulations.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft products and other industry specific software.
- Minimum 5 years as an A&P mechanic.
- Current Inspection Authorization is required.
Working Environment/Physical Activities
- Must be able to work in and around an aviation hangar, and have knowledge of airport rules, including ramp and aircraft movement areas.
- Working environment includes areas of moving mechanical parts, equipment, and various chemicals and fumes.
- Occasional to frequent periods of lifting, pushing or pulling 25 to 100 pounds. Frequent continuous standing, reaching and stooping.
- Physical activity may require entering confined spaces.
Location Requirements:
- Operation based in Ashland, VA, at Hanover County Municipal Airport.
