Job summary

Silvi Materials is hiring a Diesel Mechanic to service our fleet of mixers, heavy equipment, and Class A trailers in our Morrisville, PA facility. The role requires 3+ years of fleet maintenance experience, with strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and safety compliance.

You will diagnose, repair, and rebuild components, perform preventative maintenance, and respond to road service calls as needed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in fleet/transportation repair and maintenance.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read maintenance manuals and schematics.
• Experience with heavy-duty vehicles and safety regulations (OSHA/DOT).
• CDL-A license preferred; PA Inspection license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, professional working environment.
• Diagnose and perform preventative maintenance on heavy-duty diesel vehicles.
• Repair/replace engines, transmissions, axles, and sub-assemblies.
• Perform electrical work and sensor calibration per standards.

Title of Position Diesel Mechanic

Shift: 2nd Shift (400 pm start time) or 3rd Shift (1000 pm start time) (+ Shift Differential!)

Location: Morrisville, PA

Pay Range

A Mechanic Ranking $45-49/hour

B Mechanic Ranking $37-45/hour

C Mechanic Ranking $30-37/hour

Signing Bonus

A Mechanic Ranking $15,000 (Paid in $3,000 installments at 30 Days, 90 days, 180 days, 270 days and 365 days)

B Mechanic Ranking $10,000 (Paid in $2,000 installments at 30 Days, 90 days, 180 days, 270 days and 365 days)

C Mechanic Ranking $4,000 (Paid in two $2,000 installments at 90 days, and 180 days)

So what does a Silvi Materials Diesel/Truck Mechanic do?

• Maintain a safe and professional working environment
• Diagnose and perform preventative maintenance for heavy-duty diesel vehicles and equipment.
• Remove, repair, rebuild from start to finish and/or replace assemblies (diesel engines, automatic and manual transmissions, axles) sub-assemblies (cylinder heads, oil pumps, fan belts, generators, starters, gauges) and other parts (tie rods, drag links, ball joints, brake linings, bearings) on trucks and equipment.
• Perform electrical work including wiring systems and starter rebuilding.
• Repair and/or adjust electrical sensors, E. G. R. valves, and computerized electrical systems according to automotive and Federal Government Clean Air Standards.
• Diagnose computerized fuel management systems, ignition systems and engine timing to determine and perform needed repairs. Changes tires.
• Weld broken assemblies, subassemblies and/or other parts, as required.
• Uses, stores, records, safeguards and properly uses equipment, materials, parts and other supplies.
• Maintain shop and work area in a clean and organized manner.
• Prepare reports and records of time spent, materials, parts used and work completed.
• Required to learn to utilize various types of diagnostic equipment.
• Respond to and handle road service calls as needed with the use of a company service vehicle.

Qualifications Required as a Silvi Materials Diesel Mechanic

• Fleet/transportation repair and maintenance experience of at least 3 years, preferably for a medium- to large-sized company.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Possess a working knowledge of Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to read and understand maintenance and parts manuals, maintenance and wiring diagrams, schematics and other written instructions related to the maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and equipment.
• Knowledge and experience with repair and maintenance of heavy-duty vehicles
• Knowledge and experience with safety regulations, i.e. OSHA, DOT as they apply to the operation
• Ability to perform maintenance and repairs in a garage and/or the field, in conformance with the specifications contained in the applicable maintenance manuals, diagrams and/or instructions.
• Possesses a sense of urgency and ownership
• Excellent follow-up skills with the ability to complete assignments/projects through to completion.
• Possesses analytical, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
• A valid CDL (A class) license preferred.
• A valid PA Inspection License A+ preferred.
• A valid Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician Certification.
• Certification under the federal Department of Transportation guidelines for brake adjustment and repair.
