Job summary

Pike Electric LLC is seeking a Class A Lineman to construct and repair electrical transmission systems, including energized and de-energized lines. Travel to various job sites may be required, and you will report to the Foreman.

Safety is emphasized while performing construction, maintenance, and training responsibilities. Responsibilities include leading crews in the Foreman's absence, mentoring apprentices, and operating heavy transmission line equipment.

• Willing to travel long distances on short notice.

Job description

The Class A Lineman is a safety focused professional with the ability to construct and repair electrical transmission systems. You will work on energized and de ‑ energized powerlines and may be required to travel to different job sites, including out ‑ of ‑ state locations, as operational and customer needs dictate. You will report to the Foreman.

Perform new construction, maintain and repair energized and de ‑ energized transmission systems while putting safety first.

Lead crew members in the absence of the Employee in Charge and conduct pre-job and tailgate safety briefings.

Train and mentor apprentices and ground workers.

Install and repair overhead transmission lines, poles, insulators, conductors and related hardware.

Comprehensive knowledge of switching and tagging procedures, EPZ -grounding and understanding induced voltage on de-energized lines using the proper tools and test equipment.

Climb different structures (wood, steel, concrete) using approved climbing methods and equipment.

Work at heights and in proximity to energized equipment.

Willing and capable to obtain knowledge in bare hand work – 44kV and 500kV.

Proficient in all aspects of heavy lifting and rigging.

Operate and maintain bucket trucks, digger derricks, tensioners and pullers and other pieces of transmission line equipment.

Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and inclement weather.

Available to work outages, storms, emergencies including on call rotation.

Follow all safety protocols including PPE use and possess a comprehensive understanding of insulated protective cover to isolate differences of potential on energized lines.

Five (5) years of recent transmission line experience.

Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Willing to travel long distances on short notice.

Lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Work for extended periods at different job locations, including out ‑ of ‑ state assignments.

Willing to work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.

While performing the responsibilities of this job, you are frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. You are occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at constructions job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. You will perform job responsibilities in extreme heat, cold, wet, windy, and storm conditions.
