Austal USA in Mobile, AL is seeking a Class Pipe Fitter to join a team of skilled tradespeople aboard marine vessels. You will read drawings, cut, bend, and install piping, ensuring leaks are tested and systems are secure, while upholding safety and quality standards.

As a strong team player with a mechanical aptitude, you will follow directions, develop colleagues, and contribute to on-time vessel delivery.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year as B-class pipe fitter or 2 years in a similar role.
• Pass the A Class pipe fitters tests; written 70% and practical 90%.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and knowledge of ship terminology.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications to determine layout requirements.
• Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines.
• Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools.
• Test system for leaks using testing equipment.
• Install clamps, brackets and hangers to support piping system using hand and power tools.
• Install pipe systems on board vessels in a safe and productive manner.
• Safely rig equipment following OSHA requirements.
• Inspect work and initiate corrective actions.
