Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia invites submissions for its holiday Kids Series production of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, seeking actors for Tiny Tim, Turkey Boy, and Cratchit children. Auditions Sept 22, 12pm–5pm, callbacks Oct 8, 12pm–5pm; availability for both dates and all rehearsals is required.

Auditioners should prepare a short period-appropriate monologue and a 16-bar cut of a Christmas carol; musicians may accompany themselves.

• Actor-musicians will be used in the show.

Job description

Walnut Street Theatre is currently accepting submissions for our annual holiday Kids Series production of Charles Dickens' A CHRISTMAS CAROL for the adult ensemble.

Submissions for the role of Tiny Tim, Turkey Boy, and the Cratchit children are by invitation only at this time.

Auditions will take place on September 22 from 12pm-5pm with Callbacks on October 8 from 12pm-5pm.

Those interested in submitting should only do so if you are available for both of the dates above as well as all rehearsals & performances:

If invited to audition, auditioners should prepare a short monologue along with a 16 bar cut of a Christmas carol of your choice. Monologues should be time-period appropriate, of the 19th Century or earlier, with elevated language. Shakespeare and Shaw are acceptable. You may also recite a passage from a Dickensian novel (not A Christmas Carol, please). Please bring clearly marked sheet music in the correct key for our accompanist. If you’d like to accompany yourself on a personal instrument, please do so. We will be utilizing actor-musicians in this show.

All Actors in the Kids Series are non-union students of the Walnut Street Theatre School.

Actors in the Kids Series receive a small scholarship stipend to offset the costs of participating in the show in addition to a free WST class.
