Qualifications

• Experience with Audi, Honda, classic vehicles or a broad mix of makes/models is valuable.
• ASE certifications preferred but not required; employer pays for certification.
• Digital vehicle inspection and Shopmonkey experience preferred; willing to learn.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical and electrical concerns and perform accurate repairs.
• Repair engine and transmission components including clutch and timing chain.
• Troubleshoot electrical systems using diagnostic equipment.
• Identify repairs and recommend preventive maintenance based on vehicle condition.
• Work on domestic, Asian, and European vehicles including Audi and Honda.
• Complete digital vehicle inspections when applicable using Shopmonkey.
• Assist with parts ordering as needed.
• For mobile work, diagnose and repair at customer locations independently.

Schedule: 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.; Monday- Saturday (days vary by technician level)
Pay Rate: B-Level: $27-$32 per hour | A-Level: $36-$41 per flagged hour

Wheeldrom is seeking an experienced A-Level or B-Level Automotive Technician in Aurora, Illinois. The shop handles a diverse mix of domestic, Asian, and European vehicles, with work focused heavily on diagnostics, electrical systems, engines, and transmissions. B-Level technicians earn $27-$32 per hour, while A-Level technicians earn $36-$41 per flagged hour. Technicians work in heated and air-conditioned bays, shop tools are available, and personal tools are not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical and electrical concerns and complete accurate automotive repairs.
• Perform engine and transmission repairs, including clutch, timing chain, and valve-related work.
• Troubleshoot automotive electrical systems using Launch diagnostic equipment.
• Identify needed repairs and develop preventive maintenance recommendations based on vehicle condition.
• Work on a variety of domestic, Asian, and European vehicles, including Audi, Honda, and classic American vehicles.
• Complete digital vehicle inspections using Shopmonkey when applicable.
• Support parts ordering as needed.
• For mobile assignments, diagnose and repair cars, motorcycles, and ATVs at customer locations while working independently and professionally.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of relevant automotive repair experience for B-Level consideration or 6+ years for A-Level consideration.
• Intermediate to advanced automotive diagnostic ability appropriate to the technician level.
• Strong experience diagnosing and repairing electrical, engine, and transmission concerns.
• Ability to perform repairs such as transmission and clutch work, timing chain service, and valve-related repairs.
• Experience with Audi, Honda, classic vehicles, or a broad mix of makes and models is valuable.
• ASE certifications are preferred but not required; Wheeldrom is willing to pay for technician certification.
• Digital vehicle inspection and Shopmonkey experience are preferred; willingness to learn the shop's inspection process is acceptable.

Compensation & Benefits

• B-Level Automotive Technician: $27-$32 per hour, hourly pay.
• A-Level Automotive Technician: $36-$41 per flagged hour, flat-rate pay.
• Up to $300 per month toward the employee's own medical insurance.
