IAMUS Consulting seeks a seasoned DevOps Engineer to join our fast-paced development team in San Antonio, TX. The role focuses on Kubernetes-based infrastructure, CI/CD, automation, and monitoring across cloud and edge environments.

The ideal candidate has 9+ years in DevOps or software development, strong Kubernetes and AWS skills, Terraform/Ansible experience, and is willing/able to obtain TS/SCI clearance. On-site work is required five days weekly.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of experience in DevOps Engineering or Software Development.
• Current Top Secret U.S. Government security clearance or eligible for TS/SCI clearance.
• Willing/able to obtain TS/SCI clearance and be a U.S. citizen.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes and AWS (EKS, EC2, EBS, S3, Lambda).
• Proficiency with Terraform and Ansible for configuration management.
• Experience deploying and managing applications, containers, and OS environments.
• Programming in Python, Bash, or Go; familiarity with Git and Flux.
• Comfortable in a Linux terminal; AGILE software development experience.
• Demonstrated tech lead, mentor, or engineering management experience.

Responsibilities

• Support cloud infrastructure deployment in AWS, especially EKS, and edge on-premise systems.
• Automate deployment processes to ensure reliability and scalability.
• Maintain Kubernetes containers and cloud infrastructure on AWS.
• Collaborate with developers to integrate applications into the infrastructure
• Monitor production systems and resolve issues; improve processes and tooling.
• Lead and mentor team members; provide hands-on guidance as needed.
• Work on customer site in San Antonio, TX five days a week.

Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced DevOps Engineer to join our fast-paced development team. The ideal candidate will have strong working knowledge in Kubernetes and Container Orchestration, Configuration Management, CI/CD, Automation, AWS, Linux systems administration, Scripting in Bash and Programming in Python, and a background in Big Data solutions. The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for implementing infrastructure, automating deployment processes, and ensuring the monitoring, reliability and scalability of our services. This role currently supports a customer onsite in San Antonio, TX.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Support development and deployment of cloud infrastructure in AWS, especially EKS.
• Support development and deployment of non-cloud (Edge) infrastructure of on-premise and portable equipment.
• Automate deployment processes and ensure reliability and scalability of services.
• Manage and maintain Kubernetes containers and cloud infrastructure on AWS.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate their applications into the infrastructure.
• Monitor and troubleshoot production systems and resolve issues as necessary.
• Continuously improve processes and tools to ensure high availability and performance.
• Stay current with new technologies and industry trends, continuously exploring new ways to improve our infrastructure.
• Seamlessly transition between hands-on execution and team guidance, treating mentorship and team leadership as inherent components of senior-level impact.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Security Clearance – A current Top Secret level U.S. Government Security Clearance is required; U.S. Citizenship required.
• Must be willing and able to obtain a TS/SCI level clearance.
• 9 years of experience in DevOps Engineering or Software Development and Bachelors in related field; or 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms.
• Strong knowledge of AWS services (EKS, EC2, EBS, S3, Lambda) and their application to deployment and management of infrastructure.
• Proficient in configuration management tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
• Experience with application, container, and OS deployment, scaling, and management.
• Ability to develop in multiple programming languages such as Python, Bash, or Go.
• Familiarity with Git, Flux, and other development and deployment tools.
• Must be comfortable in a terminal-based environment.
• Proficient knowledge of Linux, including system administration and troubleshooting.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and troubleshoot complex issues.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Understanding of AGILE software development methodologies and use of standard software development tool suites.
• Demonstrated experience serving as a tech lead, mentor, or manager for engineering teams.
• Must be willing/able to help open/close the workspace during regular business hours as needed.
• Must be able to work on customer site in San Antonio, TX 5 days a week. Flexibility is essential to accommodate any changes in the schedule.

Preferred Requirements

• A current active TS/SCI clearance
• Experience with big data technologies like: Hadoop, Accumulo, Ceph, Spark, NiFi, Kafka, PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, Hive, Drill, Impala, Trino, Presto, etc.
• Experience with containers, EKS, Diode, CI/CD, and Terraform are a plus.

Salary at IAMUS Consulting varies based on location, education, skills, experience, as well as contract-specific affordability. The estimated salary range for this position is between $156,000 and $203,000. This estimate is one part of IAMUS Consulting's overall compensation package.
