As a Light-Wheel Vehicle Mechanic for the Army National Guard, you’ll ensure that anything that moves on wheels is ready to hit the road. Your responsibilities include supervising and performing maintenance and recovery operations on wheeled vehicles in the field and in the shop.
Your duties will include inspecting, servicing, maintaining, repairing, testing, adjusting, and replacing systems and components; performing recovery operations; and servicing electrical systems, including wiring harnesses and charging systems.
Through training, you will develop skills and experience for civilian careers with service stations, auto dealers, farm equipment companies, and state highway agencies. You can pursue roles working on carburetors, transmissions, radiators, construction equipment, or endless track vehicles.

Job training includes 10 weeks of Basic Training to learn basic Soldiering skills, and 13 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT), which includes classroom and field training.
