Job summary

Sandoval County is seeking a 911 Telecommunicator (Dispatcher) to receive and triage emergency calls and coordinate lifeline responses for police, fire, and EMS in a 24/7 emergency communications center in New Mexico.

You will use radio, telephone, and CAD systems, determine correct protocols, and guide callers through life-saving instructions while maintaining calm and decisive communication with responders and the public.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED and 1 year of experience in call center, customer service, data entry or telephone communications, or equivalent.
  • Must obtain CJIS/NCIC, CPR for healthcare providers, EMD, EFD, EPD within 12 months; NM Public Safety Telecommunicator within 12 months; ICS 100/144/200/700/800 within 12 months.
  • Valid New Mexico driver’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days.
  • Pre-employment background, drug screening, and a 911 typing test (min 35 WPM).

Responsibilities

  • Receive, record, and transmit calls and messages for local, state, and federal public safety agencies using radio, telephone, and computer systems.
  • Provide concise, accurate information to callers and notify public safety officials.
  • Assist callers with emergency first aid as required.
  • Operate Priority Dispatch Software to determine protocol and dispatch incidents.
  • Enter and verify caller information in NCIC as required.
  • Attend required training and ongoing supervision.
