Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Good moral character is required.
• Ability to pass a thorough background investigation.
• No convictions of a crime that could have resulted in imprisonment in a federal or state penitentiary.
• Ability to pass a written test at the police department.
• Ability and willingness to work a variety of days and shifts, including holidays.
• Must complete TESTING through Job Service for 911 Communications Officer which includes Typing, Spelling, Grammar and Data Entry.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of routine clerical, technical and administrative work in dispatching emergency services.
• Assist the public with information and directions.
• Keep official and confidential records.
• Assist in administration of standard operating policies and procedures of the dispatch center.
• Use office equipment, to include: database systems, multi-lined 911 emergency and non-emergency telephones, teletype, computer, photocopy and fax machine, radio base, TDD and paging systems.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Will be trained on-the-job in emergency medical dispatch.
• Will be sent to Helena for basic training before one year.
