Job summary

Joplin Schools is seeking a Permanent Substitute Teacher for East Middle School in Joplin, Missouri. The position is a 9-month term with duties including supervising students, developing lesson plans, and covering for staff absences.

Starting immediately, candidates must hold a Missouri Substitute Teacher certification or a Missouri Teacher Certification and pass a background check as required by the MO DESE. Reports to the Building Principal and Director of Human Resources.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Missouri Substitute Teacher certification or a valid Missouri Teacher Certification.
• Cleared background check from the MO Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students at all times.
• Assumes the responsibility for instructing classes.
• Develop lesson plans and assignments as needed.
• Maintain appropriate records including grading test papers, recording grades, student assignments for homework, projects and the necessary clerical work.
• Provide in-class and at-home assignments as needed.
• Attend and contribute in staff meetings, professional development activities and teacher institutes.
• Carry out all other duties as assigned.
