Job summary

GEO Next Generation High School in Baton Rouge is seeking a Math teacher for a 10-month position within a blended learning environment. You will deliver instruction aligned to state standards and leverage technology to differentiate learning for students in the K-8 range.

You will collaborate with SPED staff, communicate with families, and participate in school initiatives. A valid Louisiana teaching license for the designated grades is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher with 24 credit hours in content area.
• Strong technical skills, particularly in integrating technology in the classroom to drive academic achievement.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement a blended learning environment, providing instruction in Math aligned to state standards.
• Participate in TAP requirements, focusing on data-driven instruction.
• Create an engaging, innovative classroom that develops student thinking and problem-solving.
• Prepare students for strong academic achievement and required assessments.
• Communicate regularly with parents and keep them informed of progress.
• Assess student progress and provide daily feedback, weekly assessments, and parent/teacher conferences as needed.
• Collaborate with Special Education teachers and administration to support students with special needs.
• Attend grade level and staff meetings and school functions outside of hours.
• Establish and enforce behavior rules and classroom procedures.
• Accept feedback and coaching from administration.
• Perform after-school duties and other tasks as assigned by the principal.
• Dress professionally and uphold school policies.

REPORTS TO/TERM:

Principal and Administrative Team

This is a 10-month position.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

An teacher is required to perform the following duties:

• Plan and implement a blended learning environment, providing direct and indirect instruction in the areas of Math based on state standards


• Participation in all TAP requirements, focusing on data-driven instruction


• Create an inviting, exciting, innovative and engaging learning environment that develops student critical thinking and problem-solving skills


• Prepare students for strong academic achievement and passing of all required assessments


• Communicate regularly with parents


• Continually assess student progress toward mastery of standards and keep students and parents well informed of student progress by collecting and tracking data, providing daily feedback, weekly assessments, and occasional parent/teacher conferences


• Work with the Special Education teachers and administration to serve special needs students in the classroom


• Attend all grade level and staff meetings and attend designated school functions outside of school hours


• Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom you are responsible


• Accept and incorporate feedback and coaching from administrative staff


• Perform necessary duties including but not limited to morning, lunch, dismissal, and after-school duties


• Performs other duties, as deemed appropriate, by the principal


• Dress professionally and uphold all school policies

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• A bachelor’s degree or higher with at least 24 credit hours in content area


• Valid Louisiana Teaching License for Grades K-5 or 6-8


• Strong technical skills, particularly in integrating technology in the classroom to drive academic achievement


• Demonstrated volunteer or community service
