Job summary

Universal Alcorn Charter School is seeking an 8th Grade Content Teacher - Math/Science to foster a warm, achievement-focused culture in an urban setting. You will implement Universal's curriculum and routines, and develop rigorous plans and assessments to drive student mastery.

You will analyze assessment data with school leaders, collaborate in grade-level teams, engage families through calls and conferences, and participate in ongoing professional development to support continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Implement Universal's curriculum and instructional strategies with consistent routines.
• Develop rigorous lesson plans, homework, and assessments per established procedures.
• Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
• Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
• Maintain discipline in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
• Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and development.
• Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies, and school regulations.
• Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLC).
• Collaborate with school leaders to analyze student assessment data and use data to inform instruction.
• Collaborate in grade-level teams to discuss student work and ensure student mastery of standards.
• Form and maintain relationships with students' families, including phone calls and conferences.
• Participate in ongoing professional development in the spirit of continuous improvement.
• Perform related work as required.
