Job summary

Illinois Education Job Bank is seeking an Eighth Grade Mathematics Teacher to deliver rigorous instruction for 8th grade and accelerated courses with high school content such as Geometry. The teacher will build conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, mathematical reasoning, and problem solving while addressing a range of learners at different stages of development.

Collaboration with grade level and mathematics colleagues will shape curriculum, assessment, and transitions to high school

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with Endorsements.
• Middle School Mathematics Endorsement (Gr. 6-8) required.
• High School Mathematics Endorsement (Gr. 9-12) required.
• ESL and LBS1 endorsements preferred.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college; math degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and teach 8th grade mathematics and accelerated courses including Geometry.
• Use clear targets, coherent sequences, models, discussion, and practice to develop understanding and fluency.
• Differentiate instruction and collaborate to provide enrichment and supports via MTSS.
• Assess student learning, give timely feedback, and communicate progress to families.
• Implement IEPs and 504 plans in coordination with support staff.
• Collaborate on curriculum, assessment, and transitions to high school math.
• Integrate instructional technology and protect district resources.
• Participate in professional learning, meetings, and district committees; respond to emergencies.
