Job summary

Mason Public Schools in Michigan is seeking an 8th Grade Girls Basketball Coach for Mason Middle School to develop players’ basketball skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship while planning practices and guiding student-athletes.

You will model good sportsmanship, create a positive learning environment, and work with school staff. This in-person role reports to the Athletic Director and supports district athletic programs.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and a High School graduate.
• Knowledge of coaching techniques and coaching psychology.
• Basic knowledge of first aid training and training techniques.
• Excellent character and ability to serve as a positive role model to student athletes.
• Willing to work cooperatively in all aspects of our interscholastic athletic program.
• Experience as a player and coach in this sport.

Job Summary

The 8th Grade Girls Basketball Coach teaches players basketball skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship. The coach plans practices, helps players improve, and works with other school staff. The coach also sets a good example and creates a positive and fun place for players to learn and compete.

Required Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and a High School graduate

Desired Qualifications

• Current First Aid Certification
• Current CPR Certification
• Verified internship under an experienced head coach or provide evidence demonstrating completion of the MHSAA program for Athletic Coaches Education
• Basic knowledge of prevention and care of athletic injuries
• Ability to relate well with students, parents, and school personnel

Job Description

Physical Requirements

• This position requires long periods of standing, sitting, and walking.
• This position requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
• Work takes place both indoors and outdoors, with some travel to other schools.

Wage

• MDMEA members: 5% per Schedule B or $2,538
