Role Mission
IDEA Science teachers are responsible for increasing student achievement and mastery of grade-level content. They deliver various levels of Pre-AP Science instruction across grades, providing students with the knowledge and skills needed to access advanced sciences. Teachers deliver quality content, relevant experimental practice, and supports to facilitate student learning, playing a critical role in students’ path to college. 8th grade Science is a state-assessed content area.

Compensation
- The starting salary for 0 years of experience is $62,500. This role is eligible for stipends based on certifications, credentials, and campus leadership, ranging from $500-$4,000. Opportunities for additional compensation include the Teacher Career Pathway, with potential earnings up to $10,000. Visit our compensation and benefits page for more info.
- Additional hourly pay is provided for after-school tutoring or Saturday school as assigned.

Qualifications
- High proficiency in Science, evidenced by certification, field of study, or work experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
- Experience in K-12 classroom preferred.
- State certification preferred but not required.
Knowledge and Skills
- Relevant coursework or experience in Science.
- Knowledge of core academic subjects and instructional practices.
- Ability to instruct students, manage behavior, and communicate effectively.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
- Implement standards, curricula, and assessments to meet academic expectations.
- Deliver content and grade-level curriculum.
- Submit lesson plans in advance and use assessments to track progress.
- Communicate student progress weekly.
- Use technology effectively for instruction and communication.
- Manage classroom behavior and foster a positive learning environment.
- Build relationships with students and families.
- Participate in meetings and professional development.
- Spend at least 40 hours/week at school.
