Job summary

Jerome Middle School, part of Jerome Joint School District 261, is seeking an 8th Grade B-Team Volleyball Coach to lead a middle school athletic program. The role emphasizes knowledge, motivation, and leadership to help students excel, while promoting physical wellbeing, character, and social development.

The coach reports to the Athletic Director and Building Principal; supervision of volunteers and students is expected.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven ability to work with students, administrators and parents.
  • One year experience coaching specific sport or participation in a college/high school program specific to that sport, and multiple years playing at Varsity or College level.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification, concussion certification, and cardiac arrest certification.

Responsibilities

  • Team supervision: ensure appropriate team conduct at practices and contests, be present with the team at practices/contests until participants leave the facilities.
  • Public relations: promote a positive image of school athletics and model respectful conduct toward opponents, officials, and spectators.
  • General duties: pursue professional growth, support school policies, and recruit participants as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records for eligibility and report violations to the Athletic Director.

Professional Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven ability to work with students, administrators and parents
  • One year experience coaching specific sport or participation in a college or high school program specific to that sport, and multiple years playing at Varsity or College level.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification, concussion certification, and cardiac arrest certification.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • ? Team supervision:
    • Insure appropriate team conduct at practices, contests and during transportation.
    • Be present at all practices and contests with the team and remain at the practice/contest until all participants have left the facilities, including after road games.
    • Coach in managing team instruction and player conditioning.
    • Teach and practice good sportsmanship in regard to opponents, officials, team members, coaches and spectators.
    • Maintain accurate records of necessary forms for eligibility.
    • Report rules violations or suspected violations to the Athletic Director.
  • ? Public Relations:
    • Ensure all participants, including players, coaches, administrators, and parents shall provide a positive image of school athletics.
    • Refrain from making negative remarks in public. Coach should support the school and athletic programs.
    • Show respect for opponents and display modesty in victory and graciousness in defeat.
