Role Mission

IDEA Math teachers are responsible for increasing student achievement and mastery of grade-level content. They deliver various levels of Pre-AP Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1 instruction across grade levels, providing students with the knowledge and skills needed to access advanced Math curriculum. Teachers at IDEA lay the foundational math understanding that students will need continually, delivering quality instruction and supports to facilitate student learning and play a critical role in students’ path to college.

What We Offer
Compensation
  • Starting salary for 0 years of experience: $62,000. The role is eligible for stipends based on certifications, credentials, and campus leadership, ranging from $500-$4,000. Opportunities through our Teacher Career Pathway can earn you up to an additional $10,000 in compensation. For details, visit our compensation and benefits page.
  • Additional hourly compensation for after-school tutoring or Saturday school as assigned.
Other Benefits

We offer a comprehensive benefits plan, covering most of the employee premium for the medical plan and subsidizing costs for dependents. Benefits include:

  • Paid Family Leave: Up to 8 weeks for birth or adoption, based on tenure and caregiver status.
  • Tuition Reimbursement: Up to 50% of tuition, up to $5,250 annually, subject to discretion and budget.

Qualifications and Skills
  • High proficiency in Math, evidenced by certification, field of study, or experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in a K-12 classroom preferred.
  • State certification preferred but not required.
  • Relevant coursework indicating Math content experience.
  • Knowledge of core academic subjects and ability to pass content assessments.
  • Basic knowledge of curricula and instructional practices.
  • Ability to instruct students, manage behavior, and communicate effectively.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Adaptability to various school situations.
Responsibilities
  • Implement state standards, curricula, and assessments.
  • Master and deliver grade-level content and texts.
  • Submit lesson plans two weeks in advance.
  • Use assessments to track progress, adjust lessons, and update grades weekly.
  • Communicate progress regularly with students and families.
  • Utilize technology effectively for instruction and communication.
  • Implement behavior management systems and foster a positive classroom environment.
  • Build trust and relationships with students and families.
  • Host tutoring sessions as needed.
  • Participate in meetings, duties, and professional development.
  • Spend at least 40 hours weekly at school.
  • Additional duties may include after-school or Saturday tutoring.
