Position Overview

Job Title: Java Developer

Level: Senior (Level 3)

Salary: Up to $200,000 per year

Core Hours: 9am to 4pm

Location: Bethesda, MD

Role Summary

Java Software Developer with strong systems, software, cloud, and Agile experience to support complex programs. In a DevOps framework, you will participate in or direct major deliverables of projects through all aspects of the software development lifecycle including scope and work estimation, architecture and design, coding, and unit testing.

Mandatory Requirements

Primary Responsibilities

• Participate in software programming initiatives to support innovation and enhancement using Python, Java, and NiFi.
• Work with ETL developers to expand Spark and NiFi data ingest flows.
• Develop and integrate custom software solutions to leverage automated deployment technologies.
• Develop, prototype, and deploy solutions within Commercial Cloud Solutions leveraging infrastructure platform services.
• Coordinate closely with team members, Delivery Owners, and Scrum Masters to ensure User Story alignment and implementation to customer use cases.
• Analyze (proof of concept, performance, end‑to‑end testing) and effectively coordinate infrastructure needs driven by developed software to meet customer mission needs.
• Support the Agile software development lifecycle following Program SAFe practices.
• Use DevOps tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, and Linux bash scripting.
• Communicate key project data to team members and build team cohesion.
• Leverage Atlassian tools like JIRA and Confluence to track activities.
• Identify and apply best practices and standard operating procedures.
• Create innovative solutions to meet the technical needs of customers.

Basic Qualifications

• Proficient with Agile practices and service‑oriented environments.
• Experience working through the software development lifecycle, delivering within DevOps toolsets and practices.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Java, and Bash.
• Experience in an Agile development environment.
• Experience developing with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with version control and issue/problem tracking systems.

Candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree and 4‑8 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree and 2‑6 years of relevant experience.

Optional Requirements

• Experience operating in a SAFe environment.
• Experience with Spark and Elasticsearch.
• Experience with NiFi.
