MO-8/25 - 714737 - AWS Solution Architect / Engineer - Remote & Raleigh, NC
Position Overview: 12+ months contract, remote with occasional onsite in Raleigh, NC. Candidate must work EST business hours. Travel expenses are not covered.

Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership across Business Architecture, Application/Software Architecture, Database Architecture, Infrastructure Architecture, and Security Architecture.
- Identify opportunities to improve architecture using cloud and cloud-native technologies.
- Build MVP technology solutions in the cloud.
- Participate in digital transformation for large complex applications.
- Assess current technology architecture and recommend future state architecture.
- Identify architectural risks, plan mitigations, adhere to standards and communicate effectively with non-technical audiences including senior ITD and business stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Software Development teams, Product Managers, and Business Owners to ensure smooth deployment and operation of systems.
- Guide/Build CI/CD pipeline configurations to orchestrate provisioning and deployment of both large and small-scale systems.
- Build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring, and operations.
- Develop Cloud Operation Framework, roles and responsibilities for each category.
- Automate tools to monitor system health and reliability; troubleshoot issues in dev, test, and production.
- Communicate status and risks to product teams and help automate and streamline operations and processes.
- Ensure solution designs and implementations meet architecture quality standards.
- Guide Solution Architects/Tech Leads to align application and integration architecture with system design guidelines and enterprise architecture standards.
- Consider healthcare industry and digital health trends.
- Implement security architecture and controls.
- Perform gap analysis and mitigation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Active status as an AWS Certified Architect (DevOps or Architect).
- Implement technical processes to roll out solutions.
- Deliver fully functional products on time with the project team.
- Knowledge of CI/CD tools (Jenkins, TravisCI, CircleCI, AppVeyor, etc).
- Experience with automation tools and repositories such as Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, CHEF, TeamCity, Artifactory, SVN, and Bitbucket.
- Experience with cloud-native tools like CloudFormation, Terraform, ELB, Autoscaling, and EC2.
- Good understanding of VPC, Subnets, route tables, Internet gateways, VPC peering, Transit gateway, VPC Link, etc.
- AWS – Amazon Web Services Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate.
- Active certification status on any cloud providers: AWS/GCP/Azure Solution Architect (preferred).
- Active certification status on any cloud providers: AWS/GCP/Azure Developer (preferred).
- Track record of successfully establishing and implementing transformation programs in an Agile and DevOps environment.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Systems Management, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Management, Engineering, or related discipline.
- 5+ years of professional IT experience with Windows Server or Linux.
- 4+ years of AWS experience, CloudFormation experience.
- 8+ years of related experience including Agile Methods and modern technology environments.
- 3+ years of cloud architecture experience and cloud economics.
- Experience leading cross-functional project teams and workgroups.
- Highly desired: knowledge of security technologies and methods for securing information.
- Highly desired: proficiency in enterprise architecture life cycle methodologies.
- Highly desired: interpersonal and leadership skills demonstrating collaboration, facilitation, negotiation, conflict management, and influence.
Required / Desired Skills
- Migrating from On-prem to Cloud using IaaS, PaaS, SaaS solutions – Required, 2 years.
- Experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, ELB, SSM, EBS, and CloudFormation) – Required, 4 years.
- Hands‑on IT experience with Windows Server or Linux – Required, 5 years.
- Experience with security best practices and implementing security controls in AWS – Highly desired.
- Experience with Agile Methods and modern technology environments – Required, 8 years.
- Experience leading cross‑functional project teams, workgroups – Required, 2 years.
- Proficiency in enterprise architecture life cycle methodologies – Highly desired.
- Interpersonal and leadership skills demonstrating collaboration, facilitation, negotiation, conflict management, and influence – Required, 4 years.
