Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• NYS Teaching Certification is preferred; certification pathway support offered.
• One year of teaching experience in an urban setting is preferred.
• Knowledge around students with disabilities, specifically high-functioning autism spectrum disorders, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build relationships with co-teachers and stakeholders to improve classroom practices and support school goals.
• Communicate and reinforce high expectations and standards for behavior and academics in line with school culture.
• Cultivate a strong classroom community with students and families.
• Plan and deliver rigorous instruction to large and small groups daily.
• Solicit, welcome, and incorporate feedback to improve instructional practice.
• Reflect on teaching experiences to identify areas for professional development.
• Maintain secure, orderly, and high-expectation learning environments.
• Provide meaningful feedback and multiple attempts for student learning.
• Measure student achievement using appropriate assessments.
• Analyze data to drive academic outcomes and improve instruction.
• Participate in state testing accommodations and state assessments.
• Use data to reflect on lesson effectiveness and student progress.
• Differentiate for individual learning needs to engage and challenge students.
• Develop and implement IEPs and behavior plans in consultation with staff.
• Communicate with families to support learning objectives and expectations.
• Be reliable, on-time, and prepared; embody school values and professional growth.
• Reflect on progress and seek professional resources to improve practice.
• Bachelor’s degree and NYS certification are required; experience in urban settings and ASD knowledge preferred.
