Role Mission: All IDEA teachers are responsible for ensuring that every IDEA student masters the academic and social skills necessary to succeed in college, while embodying IDEA's values daily. Teachers set ambitious goals, create a powerful learning environment, plan and deliver rigorous instruction, assess student mastery, analyze data for intervention, and seek excellence as educators and team members.

What We Offer

Compensation:

  • The starting teacher salary for 0 years of experience is $62,000.
  • This role is eligible for stipends based on certifications, credentials, and leadership roles, ranging from $500-$4,000. We offer opportunities through our Teacher Career Pathway to earn up to an additional $10,000.
  • Additional hourly compensation is provided for after-school tutoring or Saturday school as assigned.

What You Bring — Competencies

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in content area, evidenced by certification or experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in a K-12 classroom preferred.
  • State certification preferred but not required.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of core academic subjects and curriculum instruction.
  • Ability to manage student behavior and instruct effectively.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Adaptability to various situations in the school environment.

What You’ll Do — Accountabilities

Responsibilities:

  • Implement state standards, curricula, and assessments to meet academic expectations.
  • Deliver relevant content and grade-level instruction.
  • Submit weekly lesson plans for feedback.
  • Use assessments to monitor progress, adjust instruction, and update gradebooks weekly.
  • Communicate student progress weekly with students and families.
  • Utilize technology effectively for communication and instruction.
  • Maintain a behavior management system aligned with campus initiatives.
  • Foster a positive school culture and develop student character.
  • Build trusting relationships with students and families.
  • Host tutoring sessions as needed.
  • Participate in meetings, duties, and professional development.
  • Spend at least 40+ hours weekly at school.
  • Additional duties may include after-school or Saturday tutoring.
