POSITION OVERVIEW:

7th Grade Science Teacher – Moore Middle, 25-26 SY

Portland Public Schools seeks a dynamic, friendly, student-centered 7th Grade Science Teacher and Advisor to join the teaching faculty at Moore Middle School. The successful candidate will be adept at providing an atmosphere and an environment conducive to the academic, social, and emotional development of individuals that centers equitable access to learning opportunities for all students. Communicating and interacting with students, families, colleagues, and community members are essential in this role.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Understanding of the teaching/learning process
  • Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education
  • Ability to infuse technology into the curriculum
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues, administrators, central office, and school-based staff, students, families and community
  • Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills
  • Knowledge of PPS curriculum, techniques for integrating curriculum, PPS policies, and effective instructional practices or a willingness to learn
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university
CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Maine State fingerprint (CHRC) authorization (more info)
  • Maine State Teacher Certificate with at least one of the following (more info):
    • 020 General Elementary Teacher (K-8)
    • 340 Middle Level Teacher, Science (5-8)
