Job description

Role Mission:

IDEA Math teachers are responsible for increasing student achievement and mastery of grade-level content. They deliver various levels of Pre-AP Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1 instruction across grade levels, providing students with the knowledge and skills needed to access advanced math curricula. Teachers at IDEA build foundational math understanding to support students' ongoing learning. They are tasked with delivering quality instruction and supports that facilitate student learning and comprehension, playing a critical role in students’ path to and through college.

What We Offer
Compensation:
  • Starting salary for 0 years of experience is $56,500. This role is eligible for stipends based on certifications, credentials, and campus leadership, ranging from $500-$4,000. Opportunities through our Teacher Career Pathway can add up to $10,000 in additional compensation. For more details, visit our compensation and benefits page.
  • Additional hourly compensation is provided for after-school tutoring or Saturday school as assigned.

We offer a comprehensive benefits plan, covering the majority of employee premiums for the base medical plan and subsidizing costs for dependents. Benefits include:

  • Paid Family Leave: Up to 8 weeks paid leave for birth or adoption, based on tenure and caregiver status.
  • Tuition Reimbursement: Up to 50% of tuition paid toward a qualifying degree, up to $5,250 annually, subject to discretion and budget.
  • Employee-Paid Mental/Behavioral Health: 5 face-to-face counseling sessions annually, unlimited telephonic counseling, and other work-life services at no cost.

Additional benefits include dental and vision plans, disability, life insurance, parenting benefits, flexible spending accounts, generous vacation, referral bonuses, professional development, and a 403(b) plan. IDEA may also offer a relocation allowance if applicable.

What You Bring — Competencies
Qualifications:
  • High proficiency in math content, evidenced by certification, field of study, or work experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution required.
  • Experience in a K-12 classroom preferred.
  • State certification preferred but not required.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Relevant coursework indicating experience or exposure to math content.
  • Knowledge of core academic subjects and ability to pass grade-level content assessments.
  • Basic knowledge of curricula and instructional practices.
  • Ability to instruct students and manage behavior.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to various school situations.
What You’ll Do — Accountabilities
Responsibilities:
  • Implement state standards, curricula, and assessments to meet academic expectations.
  • Master and deliver curriculum, objectives, and texts.
  • Submit weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance for feedback.
  • Use assessments to monitor progress, adjust lessons, and update gradebooks weekly.
  • Communicate student progress weekly with families.
  • Use technology effectively to enhance learning and manage tasks.
  • Implement behavior management systems aligning with campus initiatives.
  • Contribute to a positive school culture fostering enthusiasm and productivity.
  • Build trusting relationships with students and families.
  • Host tutoring sessions as needed.
  • Participate in meetings, duties, and professional development.
  • Spend at least 40 hours weekly at school.
  • Additional duties may include after-school tutoring or Saturday school based on need.
