Position Title: 7th Grade Volleyball Assistant Coach

Reports To: Head Volleyball Coach / Athletic Director / Middle School Principal

Location: Tri-West Middle School

Position Type: Seasonal / Stipend Position

Position Summary: The 7th Grade Volleyball Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach in developing student-athletes both on and off the court. This position focuses on reinforcing volleyball fundamentals, fostering team culture, and ensuring a positive and inclusive athletic environment in line with school and IHSAA standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting practices emphasizing skill development and teamwork.
  • Provide individual instruction and feedback to student-athletes during practices and games.
  • Supervise athletes at practices, games, and team activities.
  • Support team logistics, including equipment setup, travel coordination, and scorekeeping as needed.
  • Help maintain a culture of accountability, sportsmanship, and academic responsibility.
  • Assist in communication with parents and school staff regarding schedules, expectations, and athlete needs.
  • Promote safety by adhering to all school and athletic policies and procedures.
  • Step into leadership duties in the absence of the Head Coach, as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; prior volleyball playing or coaching experience preferred.
  • Ability to relate well to middle school students and serve as a positive role model.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Must complete all required background checks and meet district and IHSAA coaching compliance requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and organizational skills.

Work Environment and Schedule:

  • Practices typically held after school hours.
  • Includes evening and weekend games or tournaments as scheduled.
