Job summary

Gallup-McKinley County Schools is seeking an Athletic Coach for 7th Grade Baseball at Tohatchi Middle School. The coach will instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy and conditioning, and will work with staff to develop a successful program while emphasizing character, discipline and sportsmanship.

Responsibilities include organizing practices, supervising a coaching staff across levels, meeting NM licensure requirements, and evening/weekend commitments during the spring sport season.

Qualifications

• Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport.
• The head coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and continue to examine new theories and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Reports to the athletic director and works with principals to meet objectives.
• Supervises a staff of coaches and coordinates practice and game schedules.
• Instructs athletes in fundamental skills, strategy and physical training for team success.
• Models appropriate behavior and develops character, self-discipline and pride in student athletes.
• Work includes evenings and weekends during the spring sport season.
