Job summary

Genesee-Education-Consultant-Services seeks a basketball coach to develop fundamentals and lead practices for middle school students. The role involves teaching skills, ensuring compliance with game rules, and maintaining equipment and facilities with dependable leadership.

The ideal candidate is student-focused, promotes sportsmanship, and collaborates with Athletic Director and Principal to support school athletics.

Qualifications

• Experience in basketball coaching preferred.
• Ability to collaborate with coaches and follow directions from Athletic Director/Principal.
• Ability to relate to middle school students, parents, staff and the public.
• Knowledge of MHSAA rules and regulations.
• Student-first mindset; promote school spirit and sportsmanship.

• Demonstrate all skills necessary for the sport.
• Be knowledgeable about the rules and regulations of the sport.
• Assume responsibility for constant care of equipment and facilities used.
• Conduct structured practices that follow Athletic Department guidelines.
• Be an example of good character and sportsmanship to the team at all times.
• Be reliable, punctual and exhibit leadership and character traits.
• Assist the Athletic Director and/or Principal as needed.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Previous basketball coaching experience preferred
• Must have the ability to work with other coaches and receive direction from the Athletic Director and/or Principal.
• Must be able to relate well to middle school students, parents, school personnel and the general public
• Must be knowledgeable of MHSAA rules and regulations
• Focuses on the student first and the athlete second
• Must strive to boost school spirit and promote good sportsmanship
