Job description

American Welding and Gas, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Specialty Gas Fill Technician / Fill Plant Operator for our Tier 5 location in Indianapolis, IN.

Position Overview:
The Specialty Gas Fill Technician is responsible for the production of various gas calibration standards. Production encompasses performing initial chemistry on cylinder packages, developing/reviewing molar calculations for blends, and finally adding various components into a blended single mix. Analysis is then performed on the standard using various analytical equipment and methods to verify the mix against a known standard. The position works in a small team environment with a focus on safety and quality as we continue to grow.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Fill high-pressure pure and mixed gases and liquified chemicals.
  • Review product orders to ensure mixtures can be produced safely and effectively.
  • Adjust product recipes as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of raw materials and base mixed product for use in the production of specialty gases.
  • Operate manual and automatic instruments and equipment.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, FDA, DOT, etc.).
  • Comply with Compressed Gas Association guidelines.
  • Comply with company quality management system policies regarding ISO 17025 and ISO 17034 standards.
  • Prepare product for shipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair production and/or analytical equipment as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Education Requirements:
  • 4 years of college or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Basic math (algebra) abilities required.
  • English reading and writing required.
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  • Able to lift 50-75 pounds and safely handle high-pressure steel and aluminum cylinders with approved equipment.
  • Must be able to process detail-oriented tasks with high reliability.
