ANTICIPATED SALARY RANGE: Temporary Staff Pay Rate

HOURS: Monday - Thursday: 8 AM - 7 PM and Friday: 8 AM - 1 PM

CAMPUS: Thomas E. Barton Campus

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
In this challenging role, you will be supporting the TTC-Tutoring & Coaching department at Greenville Technical College. Duties may include any or all of the following.

  • Tutor students who are having academic difficulties in Math (College Algebra, Probability and Statistics)
  • Share specific skills and tips for improving academic performance in a course(s).
  • Encourage students to improve their academic performance.
  • Maintain the required paperwork on each student tutored and submit in a timely manner.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by Campus Coordinator or Director.

** Anyone interested intutoring Math, will need to take a ContentKnowledge Test before being interviewed.**

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • College coursework with an earned "A" or "B" in the class/discpline to be tutored. Professional tutors must have a degree, preferably a Bachelor's or a Master's in related teaching discipline.
  • Ability to clearly demonstrate and explain knowledge of the course subject matter to students.
  • Ability to work independently and with individuals from all socio-economic backgrounds. Ability to follow departmental procedures and guidelines.
  • Ability to pass a Content Knowledge Test (for certain courses) with an 80% or above.
  • Must be able to devote an entire semester to tutoring and be able to work on any GTC campus.
  • Must be able to tutor students one-on-one and/or in a lab setting.
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet Explorer).
  • Student tutors must be able to work at least 10 hours a week and professional tutors should be able to work at least 20 hours a week.

NOTE: Current GreenvilleTechnical College students must be able to obtain and submit two (2) facultyrecommendations. Forms will be provided.
