Job summary

Olivet Community Schools is seeking a .7 Computer Teacher FPE for one year to deliver computer and technology instruction to kindergarten through third grade. The teacher will use district devices, teach keyboarding, and guide students in digital citizenship and safe technology use.

Qualifications

• Compensation: Per OEA Master Contract

Qualifications:

Position Requirements & Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver age-appropriate computer and technology instruction for students in kindergarten through third grade.


• Teach foundational computer skills, including appropriate use of computers, Chromebooks or other District devices, keyboards, mice, touchscreens, and other technology tools.


• Introduce and develop age-appropriate keyboarding and typing skills.


• Teach students how to access, navigate, create, save, and manage digital work using District-approved applications and platforms.


• Provide instruction in digital citizenship, including online safety, privacy, responsible technology use, appropriate online behavior, and care of District technology.


• Introduce students to computational thinking, sequencing, patterns, algorithms, problem-solving, and basic coding concepts through developmentally appropriate activities.


• Provide opportunities for students to use technology to create, communicate, collaborate, and solve problems.


• Introduce students to the basic components and functions of computers and other computing devices.


• Integrate technology instruction with grade-level curriculum when appropriate, including literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, and other content areas.


• Differentiate instruction to meet the developmental, academic, and technology skill levels of individual students.


• Provide appropriate accommodations and modifications for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Section 504 Plans, and other identified learning needs.


• Establish and maintain an organized, positive, and safe learning environment.


• Teach and reinforce appropriate procedures for handling, using, and caring for District technology and equipment.


• Monitor student progress and use appropriate assessment methods to evaluate student understanding and skill development.


• Communicate with classroom teachers and building administrators regarding student progress, curriculum integration, technology needs, and instructional opportunities.


• Collaborate with classroom teachers and other staff to support the effective integration of technology into student learning.


• Maintain appropriate instructional materials, software, equipment, and technology resources assigned to the classroom.


• Identify technology or equipment concerns and communicate repair or support needs through established District procedures.


• Maintain accurate records as required by the District.


• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, parent-teacher conferences, and other District or building activities as required.


• Maintain confidentiality of student, staff, and District information in accordance with applicable laws and District policies.


• Follow all Board of Education policies, administrative procedures, applicable laws, and professional standards.


• Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or Superintendent/designee.


• Attend and participate in school events, meetings, and professional development opportunities


• Ability to analyze data in order to plan for students in a MTSS model.


• Act as a representative of the district when greeting and interacting with parents, community members, vendors, students, and other employees.
