The role you’ll contribute:

The registered nurse utilizes principles of the nursing process to provide for the continuity of nursing care to a specific group of patients, consistent with the philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures of the Emergency Room and hospital administration.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

  • Provides patient care through assessment, prioritization of presenting problems or needs to facilitate optimal patient outcomes.
  • Evaluates patients upon arrival to the Emergency Room.
  • Determines priority of care based on evaluation.
  • Assigns patients to appropriate treatment areas based on observations, vital signs, and brief history.
  • Informs charge nurse and/or physician of urgent/emergency cases.
  • Keeps charge nurse and physicians informed of patient census and disease entities waiting.
  • Proactively facilitates patient flow through the E.D.
  • Assesses patient status on admission with physical assessment and nursing history.
  • Performs ongoing assessment throughout the patient’s stay in the Emergency Room.
  • Recognizes potential emergency or life-threatening situations and implements preventive measures.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

  • At least 2 years of ER Nursing experience.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
  • Currently licensed to practice as an RN in Texas or hold a Multistate license.
