Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking an ICE Propulsion and Thermal Systems Engineering (IPTSE) Engine Design Supervisor in the Godzilla V8 Propulsion organization. Responsible for design release, attribute delivery, and integration of engine powerpacks across current and future models.

You will lead cross-functional teams, ensure NVH and emissions targets, coordinate tests, and drive issue resolution through program milestones. Hybrid work model and global program exposure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field.
• 8 years of Component and System/Subsystem D&R experience; IC engine experience.
• Ability to lead in a team environment.
• Knowledge of FMEA, Control Plans, DV/PV Plans.
• Knowledge of GD&T and Dimensional Control.
• Basic NVH, Materials, Durability, Manufacturing concepts.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to present to management levels.

In this position…

This position is for an ICE Propulsion and Thermal Systems Engineering (IPTSE) Engine Design Supervisor in the Godzilla V8 Propulsion organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for design and release and attribute delivery of the engine powerpack, subsystems and components on current and forward model applications.

What you’ll do…

• Lead new/forward model product development of engine systems, subsystems and components in accordance with Ford GPDS deliverables and milestones for NA and global programs.
• Ensure attributes (power, torque, FE, weight, emissions and NVH) meet program targets
• Lead/Support resolution of all design, manufacturing, program, and launch issues.
• Interface with suppliers, vehicle calibration, finance, powertrain planning, transmission, vehicle cooling/TASE/heat management, NVH, SESE, Fuel, Controls, design studio (appearance/graining) and packaging.
• Interface with the engine plants understanding constraints and design requests
• Support all program meetings (Design Reviews, PMT Meetings, Change Control, AIMS, Milestone Status, Launch Readiness, Etc.)
• Establish engine and component level DV and oversee testing in support of robust validation.
• Coordinate prototype part delivery to ensure successful build events
• Lead engine assembly 543 and vehicle as installed 1271 for each build phase
• Management of all applicable WERS, FEDE, FEDEBOM, Integrator, FMA, Etc. program activities.
• Support DPMT, Mechanical and Combustion development
• Lead warranty reduction and issue resolution.
• Lead TVM cost reduction idea generation and implementation.
• Support change control activities.
• Travel as necessary to Ford Engine Plants/Facilities and Suppler/Sub-Supplier sites for issue resolution and build support.
• Coach/mentor team members on oral and written communication and presentation skills to lead Manager, Chief and Director level reviews

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a related field
• 8 years of Component and System/Subsystem D&R Experience; Internal combustion engine experience
• Ability to work effectively and lead in a team environment.
• Knowledge of FMEA’s, Control Plans, and DV/PV Plans.
• Knowledge of GD&T and Dimensional Control (SPC, Statistics, Etc.)
• Basic knowledge of NVH, Materials, Durability, and Manufacturing (Stamping, Bending, Welding) processes.
• Strong Interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills and background.
• Ability to prepare and present information to all levels of management.
• Highly motivated, self-starter, with ability to self-manage and generate/prioritize workload.

This position is leadership level 6 and ranges from $115,500-$218,100.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate’s skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
