This is a Schedule E/Stipend Position. The deadline for all Walnut Hills applicants: Friday, June 26, 2026. External applications will be accepted beginning Saturday, June 27, 2026.

Overview: The Walnut Hills High School Theatre Department is seeking a vocal music director for our 7‑12 musical in spring of 2027. AM auditions are 2/24/27‑2/26/27. Rehearsals begin 3/2/27 with performances 4/29/27‑5/1/27. We are an award‑winning theatre department that produces 4 mainstage productions a year.

Responsibilities

• Teach and coach the vocal music for the production
• Attend and lead 2‑3 vocal music rehearsals a week for the first few weeks
• Attend run‑through rehearsals and review / coach further as needed
• Assist the pit orchestra director with Sitzprobe
• Attend weekend tech rehearsal 4/24/27
• Make cuts and re‑writes of vocal parts as needed
• Assist the show director and choreographer with auditions and casting
• Accompany rehearsals as needed

Qualifications

• Possess a bachelor's degree in theatre, music, or musical theatre
• Strong piano skills required – accompanist not provided for musical rehearsals
• Must be able to read music and sight‑read piano parts
• Experienced with directing choirs, vocal ensembles, and/or vocal directing in musical theatre
• Professional acting, singing, theatre directing, and/or vocal directing experience preferred
