Role Mission

IDEA Science teachers are responsible for increasing student achievement and mastery of grade level content. They deliver various levels of Pre-AP Science instruction across grade levels, providing students with the knowledge and skills needed to access advanced sciences across curricula. Teachers provide foundational science understanding, quality content instruction, relevant experimental practice, and supports to facilitate student learning, playing a critical role in students’ path to and through college. 8th grade Science is a state-assessed content area.

What We Offer

Compensation:

• Starting salary for 0 years of experience is $62,500. The role is eligible for stipends based on certifications, credentials, and campus leadership, ranging from $500-$4,000. Opportunities through our Teacher Career Pathway can earn up to an additional $10,000. For more details, visit our compensation and benefits page.

• Additional hourly compensation is provided for after-school tutoring or Saturday school as assigned.

What You Bring — Competencies

Qualifications:

• High content-area proficiency evidenced by certification, field of study, or work experience
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
• Experience in a K-12 classroom preferred
• State certification preferred but not required

• Relevant coursework or experience in Science
• Knowledge of core academic subjects and ability to pass content assessments
• Instructional and classroom management skills
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Adaptability in various school situations

What You’ll Do — Accountabilities

Responsibilities:

• Implement state standards, curricula, and assessments
• Master and deliver grade-level content and texts
• Submit weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance
• Use assessments to track and adjust instruction, update gradebook weekly
• Communicate progress regularly with students and families
• Utilize technology effectively for instruction and communication
• Maintain a behavior management system aligned with campus initiatives
• Contribute to school culture fostering a positive learning environment
• Build trusting relationships with students and families
• Host tutoring sessions as needed
• Participate in meetings, duties, and professional development
• Work a minimum of 40+ hours weekly at school; additional duties may include after-school or Saturday sessions
