Job description

Role Mission: IDEA Math teachers are responsible for increasing student achievement and mastery of grade-level content. Math teachers deliver various levels of Pre-AP Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1 Pre-AP instruction across grade levels, providing students with the knowledge and skills needed to access advanced Math curriculum. Teachers at IDEA provide foundational math understanding that students will need continually. They deliver quality instruction and supports that facilitate student learning and comprehension, playing a critical role in students' path to and through college.

What We Offer

Compensation:

  • The starting teacher salary for 0 years of experience is $56,500. This role is eligible for stipends based on certifications, credentials, and campus leadership, ranging from $500-$4,000. Opportunities for additional incentives include the Teacher Career Pathway, with potential to earn up to $10,000 extra. For more details, visit our compensation and benefits page.
  • Additional hourly compensation is provided for after-school tutoring or Saturday school as assigned.

Other Benefits:

We offer a comprehensive benefits plan, covering most of the employee premium for the medical plan and subsidizing costs for dependents. Benefits include:

  • Paid Family Leave: Up to 8 weeks for birth or adoption, based on tenure and caregiver status.
  • Tuition Reimbursement: Up to 50% of tuition, up to $5,250 annually, subject to discretion and budget.
  • Employee-Paid Mental/Behavioral Health: 5 face-to-face counseling sessions annually, unlimited telephonic counseling, and other services at no cost.

Additional benefits include dental and vision plans, disability, life insurance, parenting benefits, flexible spending accounts, vacation time, referral bonuses, professional development, and a 403(b) plan. IDEA may also offer a relocation allowance if applicable.

What You Bring -- Competencies

Qualifications:

  • High proficiency in content area evidenced by certification, field of study, or experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution required.
  • Experience in a K-12 classroom preferred.
  • State certification preferred but not required.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Relevant coursework indicating experience or exposure to Math content.
  • Knowledge of core academic subjects and ability to pass content assessments.
  • Understanding of curricula and instructional practices.
  • Ability to instruct students and manage behavior.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to various situations in the school environment.

What You’ll Do -- Accountabilities

Responsibilities:

  • Implement state standards, IDEA curricula, and assessments to meet academic expectations.
  • Master and deliver content and grade-level curriculum.
  • Submit weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance.
  • Use assessments to track and adjust teaching based on student progress.
  • Communicate student progress weekly with students and families.
  • Utilize technology effectively for communication and instruction.
  • Implement behavior management systems aligned with school initiatives.
  • Contribute to a positive school culture fostering a productive learning environment.
  • Build trust and respectful relationships with students and families.
  • Host tutoring sessions as needed.
  • Participate in meetings, duties, and professional development.
  • Spend a minimum of 40+ hours at school weekly.
  • Additional duties may include after-school or Saturday tutoring based on needs.
