Summary
Moody Middle School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a full-time 6th Grade Math Teacher. The ideal candidate will have a passion for mathematics and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment that encourages student engagement and academic growth. This position requires the ability to create and implement effective lesson plans, assess student progress, and collaborate with colleagues to enhance the educational experience for all students.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging and comprehensive lesson plans that align with state standards and the school curriculum.
- Teach 6th-grade math concepts, including but not limited to fractions, decimals, geometry, and basic algebra.
- Assess and evaluate student performance through a variety of methods, including tests, quizzes, and classroom participation.
- Provide individualized support and enrichment opportunities for students to help them achieve their academic goals.
- Foster a positive classroom environment that promotes respect, collaboration, and a love for learning.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and any concerns.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff to develop interdisciplinary projects and initiatives.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and advancements in mathematics education.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and assessments.
- Contribute to school-wide events and activities, promoting a sense of community and school spirit.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification or license for middle school mathematics.
- Previous teaching experience, preferably at the middle school level, is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of 6th-grade math concepts and the ability to convey them effectively to students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Proficient in using technology and educational software to enhance instruction and student learning.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
