Job summary

Mercy Springfield offers a Nurse Residency Program to newly graduated nurses and experienced hires, guiding a career path from step-down to ICU. The program emphasizes clinical growth, nursing assessment, critical thinking, and time management within Mercy's standards.

Graduates must hold a current RN license (state or compact). Certification requirements include BLS with other specialized courses; education and licensure are aligned with Mercy guidelines for clinical excellence.

Qualifications

• RN license current in hiring state or compact licensure
• BLS required or within 30 days of hire
• ACLS/ALS, NRP, ENPC, TNCC, C-EFM, PALS, PEARS certifications preferred
• Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs; prolonged standing/walking

Job description

Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Nurse Residency Available: Mercy Springfield offers a year-long Nurse Residency Program tailored to the specialty area in which each nurse is hired. All graduate nurses participate in the program, along with select experienced nurses based on their individual experience and professional development needs.

• Prepare for success in the specialty area of your choice
• Build time management, communication, assessment skills, critical thinking, build knowledge base
• Develop critical thinking and expand that skill set as you specialize down the road
• Develop and strengthen fundamental, core skills
• Available to transfer to ICU within 12-18 months

Education: Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).

Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.

• S.T.A.B.L.E. (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, And Emotional Support) Six Assessment & Care Modules
• C-EFM (Fetal Monitor Certification)
• Other unit-specific certifications as required.

Physical Requirements

• Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
