PACA - PACKER A

OB DESCRIPTION

I. POSITIONS REPORTING DIRECTLY TO THIS POSITION: None

II. POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Pack in a safe manner an efficient manner while maintaining highest quality.

III. QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school graduate or equivalent.

2. Good oral and written communication skills

4. Basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division skills.

5. Basic reading skills.

6. Available for overtime.

IV. TRAINING:
1. Use of a hand jack.

2. Use of a tape gun.

3. Use of a glue gun.

4. Proper usage of J-knife, T-knife and Putty knife.

5. Proper docket reading to ensure quality standards are being met.

V. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Tasks and Duties
Job Level Classifications
C Level Job classification

1. Safety- complies with all written and verbal safety rules of the plant and the department assigned to. This is to include use of the proper personal protective equipment.

2. Read docket daily and at all order changes to ensure the proper product is being packed.

3. Must maintain cleanliness and orderliness in their assigned areas.

4. Must be able to pack and inspect efficiently on the line trained on,

Example: Retail/T.A.’s.

5. Help surrounding areas when their machine is down.

6. Label for the current job as well as upcoming job changes ensuring

accuracy.

7. Complete proper quality bag checks every fifteen minutes.

8. Must be able to properly read and understand how to work the scales in

the production department.

9. Demonstrate the ability to safely use a hot melt gun.

10. Properly work a calculator.

11. Show the proper use of a hand jack for product movement.

12. Must show how to properly use a tape gun.

13. Must be able to perform all daily task of data entry in the IBS

Production System.

14. Must demonstrate active participation in Company’s Stretching

Program.

B Level Job classification

Must have all the C Level job classifications plus the following:

1. Must be able to pack and inspect efficiently on at least two sets of

product lines. Example: Retail/T.A.’s and N.M.’s or N.M.’s

and T-Sacks.

2. Take it upon themselves to ensure that needed product is being ordered

for their machines without operator or supervisors help.

3. Must be able to properly fill out the Daily Production/Check sheet.

A Level Job classification

Must have all the C and B level classifications plus the following:

1. Must be able to pack and inspect efficiently on at least four sets of

2. Must be willing and able to train new packers on the lines they are

trained on.

3. Must be able to pack and inspect efficiently on all product lines.

1. Stooping, bending body downward and forward by bending spine and waist.

2. Kneeling, bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.

3. Crouching, bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and

spine.

4. Reaching, extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any directions.

5. Standing, particularly for sustained periods of time.

6. Walking, moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long

distances.

7. Lifting, raising objects from a lower to higher position or moving objects

horizontally from position to position. Degree of lifting 5-50 lbs.

8. Grasping, applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm.

9. Feeling, perceiving attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature or

texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.

10. Talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken word, via face to

face.

11. Hearing, perceiving the nature of sounds with no less than a 40 db loss @ 500 Hz, 1000 Hz, and 2000 Hz with or without correction. Must have the ability to receive verbal communication and to make fine discriminations in sounds.

12. Balancing, maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching.

13. Crawling, moving about on hands and knees or hands and

feet.

14. Pulling, using upper extremities to exert force in order to drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.

15. Pushing, using upper extremities to press against something steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.

16. Fingering, picking, pinching, or otherwise working primarily

with fingers rather than whole hand or arms in handling.

Visual
1. Must be able to see the gradations of a tape measure/ruler.

2. Must be able to perform a visual inspection of the following,

perf to seal registration, print to print registration, print quality,

3. Position requires individual to differentiate colors, depth and

perception.

VIII. Work Environment Conditions
1. Inside environmental conditions protected from the weather conditions not

necessarily temperature conditions.

2. Occasional outside environmental conditions, no effective protection from the

weather.

3. Inside and outside environments apply.

4. Subject to extreme heat, temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more

than one hour.

5. Subject to noise causing reason to shout in order to be heard above the noise

level.
