Position Details

Pay Range: $14.00/hr - $22.00/hr (based on skills and experience)

Posting Date: 1/18/2024

Hours: Monday - Thursday: 8 AM - 7 PM; Friday: 8 AM - 1 PM

Location: Thomas E. Barton Campus

Responsibilities

• Tutor students in Science (Biology, Chemistry)
• Share skills and tips to improve academic performance
• Encourage students academically
• Maintain and submit tutoring paperwork
• Other duties as assigned

Note: Tutors for Math, English, Chemistry, and Physics must take a Content Knowledge Test before interview.

Qualifications

• College coursework with an 'A' or 'B' grade; degrees (Bachelor's or Master's) preferred for professional tutors
• Ability to explain course material clearly
• Ability to work independently and with diverse backgrounds
• Follow departmental procedures
• Pass Content Knowledge Test with 80%+
• Commit to a semester of tutoring; available on any GTC campus
• Ability to tutor one-on-one or in labs
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Student tutors: minimum 10 hours/week; professional tutors: minimum 20 hours/week

Current students must submit two faculty recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Earned 'A' in the course to be tutored
