Primary Purpose

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree from accredited university
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of subjects assigned
  • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience:

  • At least one year of student teaching or approved internship
Major Responsibilities and Duties
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements and show written evidence of preparation.
  • Prepare lessons reflecting accommodations for different learning styles.
  • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by TEA, policies, and regulations.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, activities, and materials suited to students' learning needs.
  • Conduct assessments of student learning styles and use results for planning.
  • Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curriculum per IEP guidelines.
  • Coordinate with staff to determine instructional goals and methods.
  • Supervise teacher aides and volunteers.
  • Utilize technology to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Assist students in improving study methods.
  • Assess student achievement regularly.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities and sponsor approved outside activities.
  • Model positive behavior and support the district's mission.
  • Create a conducive classroom environment for development.
  • Manage student behavior per policies.
  • Ensure safety of students and equipment.
  • Assist in selecting instructional materials.
  • Maintain communication with parents, students, and staff.
  • Maintain professional relationships and participate in staff development.
  • Comply with regulations and policies.
  • Complete required reports and records.
  • Attend faculty meetings and serve on committees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
