Job summary

Verista is seeking a Senior Project Engineer in the Columbus area to lead equipment commissioning, startup, and qualification for advanced manufacturing lines. You will provide hands-on engineering support across mechanical, electrical, controls, instrumentation, and automation, and serve as the technical interface with OEMs and vendors.

You will drive performance tests, CAPAs, deviation handling in GMP environments, and mentor junior engineers, while supporting production ramp-up and equipment

Qualifications

• 5+ years in equipment engineering, CQV, commissioning, or related field.
• Hands-on experience with automated manufacturing and packaging equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, controls, and automation systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead equipment commissioning, startup, qualification, and performance activities.
• Provide hands-on engineering support for automation, servo, vision, and packaging issues.
• Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Review designs, drawings, and control strategies.

Senior Project Engineer Responsibilities:

• Lead equipment commissioning, startup, qualification, and performance activities.
• Provide hands-on engineering support for complex mechanical, electrical, controls, instrumentation, servo, vision, and automation issues.
• Lead troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and equipment improvement actions.
• Review and approve equipment designs, specifications, drawings, control strategies, and technical documentation.
• Lead equipment integration, optimization, and production ramp-up activities.
• Serve as the technical interface with equipment OEMs and vendors, driving issue resolution and equipment performance.
• Develop and execute engineering and CQV test strategies, including FAT/SAT, IQ/OQ, and performance testing.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, throughput, cycle time, quality, and maintainability.Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior engineers and CQV personnel.
• Support deviations, change controls, CAPAs, and technical investigations within a GMP environment.
• Provide engineering leadership during off-shift commissioning, qualification, and production support.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in equipment engineering, CQV, commissioning, automation, manufacturing engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong hands-on experience with automated manufacturing and packaging equipment.
• Demonstrated expertise troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, controls, and automation systems.
• Experience with PLC/HMI systems, servos, sensors, vision systems, robotics, and automated equipment preferred.
• Experience in a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, or similar manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of equipment qualification, commissioning, and validation principles.
• Proven ability to lead technical issues, vendors, projects, and cross-functional engineering teams.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and technical documentation skills.
• Experience with ATS, IMA, Dividella, or similar equipment is highly preferred.
• Willingness to work 2nd and/or 3rd shift as required.

The actual salary is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs, market demand, and competitive market practice.
