Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Act as liaison between school, home and community for students and families.
  • Provide intensive behavior assessments and interventions for Tier 3.
  • Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments and create BIPs.
  • Counsel families and coordinate with private agencies and services.
  • Lead parent conferences and participate in problem solving teams.

Job Title: School Social Worker Location: Key West High School and Lower Keys ACE Starting Salary: $70,400 Months per year: 11 Days per year: 220 Hours per day: 8 Benefits: Florida Blue Network Medical Insurance and Florida Retirement System

Position Goal

To act as a liaison between school, home and community in the provision of services to students and families regarding social, emotional and behavioral challenges. To provide intensive individualized behavior assessments, interventions and outcome measures for students at the Tier 3 level.

Essential Job Functions
  • Knowledge of children and family systems.
  • Knowledge of community agencies for services to children and families.
  • Knowledge of referral process for accessing services for children and families.
  • Knowledge of school attendance requirements and truancy laws.
  • Knowledge of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
  • Knowledge of evidence-based behavioral interventions and outcome measures at the Tier 3 level.
  • Knowledge of impacts, interventions and systems of care for students with mental health and co-occurring substance abuse diagnoses.
  • Ability to complete and implement Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA's) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP's)
  • Ability to communicate, relate, and consult with a variety of school staff in a proficient, student centered and positive manner.
  • Ability to counsel with families regarding needs for services to help students identified as abused, neglected, or emotionally/behaviorally challenged.
  • Ability to conduct parent conferences and actively participate in school problem solving team meetings.
  • Ability to function as a liaison between the home, school, community/private agencies to coordinate care and services.
Grant Funded Position

This position is grant funded for a period of two years. The grant includes monetary service scholarship awards for committed years of employment, and supplements for proficiency in Spanish or Haitian Creole on top of the starting salary. Conditions apply in order to receive these additional yearly awards.

Required license/certification

Licensed Clinical Social Worker issued by the Florida Department of Health (FLDOH). OR Eligibility for Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) certification in School Social Worker (Grades PK-12). The FLDOE requires a master's or higher degree with a graduate major in social work that includes 300 hours or more of field placement.
