Job summary

Family Life Academy Charter Schools seeks a Science Teacher (grades 6-8) in New York to engage students with a standards-based curriculum aligned to NYS science standards. Experience teaching in urban settings is preferred; required are a NYS teaching certificate and a commitment to a caring, rigorous learning environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• New York State Teaching Certification in Biology or related grades is required.
• Prior satisfactory teaching experience, especially in an urban school, is preferred.
• Fingerprint clearance and criminal background checks are required.

Responsibilities

• Creates academically rigorous, standards-based lesson plans aligned with NYS standards.
• Utilizes student-centered instructional strategies and differentiates teaching for diverse learners.
• Implements network curriculum resources and plans to align across K-12.
• Integrates literacy skills and assesses student progress with timely feedback.
• Co-plans and co-teaches with Special Education and ELL teachers as needed.
• Maintains strong classroom management and a safe, orderly environment.
