Qualifications

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with middle grades English Language Arts endorsement.
  • Knowledge of middle school instructional practices and adolescent development.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, and community members.
  • Commitment to continuous professional growth and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver standards-based instruction aligned with the Illinois Learning Standards for English Language Arts.
  • Develop lessons that engage students in reading comprehension, literary analysis, writing, grammar, vocabulary, speaking, and listening skills.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, technology tools, and differentiated practices to meet diverse needs of learners.
  • Administer and analyze formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and guide instruction.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and academic progress.
  • Create and maintain a safe, respectful, and positive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and responsible behavior.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, concerns, and accomplishments.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to improve instruction and student outcomes.
  • Participate in curriculum development, data analysis, and school improvement initiatives.
  • Implement accommodations and modifications as required by IEPs, 504 Plans, and English Learner plans.
  • Support the development of students' social-emotional skills and foster positive relationships with students and families.
  • Supervise students during assigned duties, activities, and events.
  • Participate in district and building professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information in accordance with district policies and state and federal laws.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
