Job summary

Lighthouse Community Public Schools seeks a 6-12 Teacher in Training to work full-time to develop the skills needed to one day step into your own classrooms, with the Alder Teacher Residency path and tuition assistance available.

You will support tutoring, behavioral needs, and assignments within our Core Day and After School Program, while building relationships with students, parents, and colleagues and helping create a caring, equitable learning environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's degree (48 college units) or passing Instructional Aides exam required.
• B.A. or B.S. degree preferred.
• 1+ years experience in schools or with youth preferred.
• Bilingual in Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic and behavioral support to a caseload of 6-12 students during the core day.
• Deliver individualized or small group instruction in academic, literacy, math, behavioral/social-emotional, and social skills.
• Implement behavior intervention strategies and plans, as needed.
• Communicate with students’ families about progress and growth areas.
• Monitor and document student progress toward intervention and support goals.
• You will be trained in specific intervention approaches to support your caseload.
• Teach your own class of students during ASP with structured enrichment activities.
• Actively supervise recess and lunch during ASP, ensuring safe and healthy environments.
• Provide Academic Support promoting student success and independence during core day and ASP.
• Collaboratively plan and lead activities that build community connections.
• Support with proctoring assessments, family communications, and student engagement as assigned.
• Attend and participate in professional development and staff meetings to improve effectiveness.
• Collaborate with other staff and Lighthouse Community.
• Maintain professional behavior and follow school policies.
• Other duties as assigned.
