Position: Athletic Director (Grades 6–12)
Location: Plainfield Public Schools, Connecticut
Start Date: July 1 st , 2025
Application Deadline: June 22 th 2025

About the Role:
Plainfield Public Schools seeks a dynamic and experienced 6–12 Athletic Director to lead and manage the district's athletic programs. The AD plays a central role in promoting student growth, school spirit, and athletic excellence while ensuring all programs operate in full compliance with district policies and state regulations. 10 month, 198 day position per contract

Key Responsibilities:

· Oversee athletic programs for grades 6–12 across the district

· Develop and manage budgets for equipment, travel, and events

· Hire, supervise, evaluate and mentor coaches

· Schedule and coordinate games, practices, transportation, and facilities

· Ensure compliance with CIAC/state regulations and eligibility standards

· Promote student participation and uphold academic/athletic integrity

· Manage event operations, discipline, and safety at all athletic events

· Foster positive community engagement and school spirit

· Maintain equipment and sports facilities

· Handle communications, publicity, and fundraising initiatives

Qualifications:

· Valid Connecticut Coaching Permit required

· Must hold one of the following:

o CT Intermediate Administrator and Supervisor Endorsement (092)

· Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills

· Experience working with student-athletes and managing athletic programs preferred

Working Conditions:

· Evening, weekend, and school break hours required

· Fast-paced, high-responsibility environment requiring flexibility and quick decision-making
