Job summary

Oakland Academy in Portage, MI is seeking a dedicated 5th Grade Teacher to join our team. The role centers on delivering standards-aligned instruction and implementing Oakland Academy’s curriculum while upholding the core values of Summit Management Consulting.

You will plan engaging lessons, assess student work, maintain records, support IEP/504 plans, communicate with families, and pursue ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education and Michigan Teaching Certification required.
• Experience with IEP/504 plans and behavior plans a plus.
• Strong planning and assessment skills aligned with state standards.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver lessons that are varied, engaging, and aligned with state standards.
• Differentiate instruction to match students’ learning styles.
• Provide frequent and timely feedback on assignments.
• Review student performance data to meet the needs of all students.
• Maintain accurate student records (e.g., Skyward).
• Assist in developing curriculum aligned with state standards.
• Support IEPs, 504 plans, and behavior plans.
• Maintain a safe, nurturing classroom and communicate with parents about progress.
• Pursue ongoing professional development and keep teaching certification up to date.
• Teach and model Oakland Academy’s character education program (7 Habits).
• Perform other duties as directed by administration.
