Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Arizona teacher certificate.
• Must hold a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Alternative qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
• Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the students' maturity and interests.
• Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request.
• Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guides learning toward curriculum goals with clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
• Employs varied instructional techniques and media to suit students' needs.
• Strives to implement district education goals and objectives.
• Assesses student progress regularly and provides progress reports.
• Diagnoses learning disabilities and consults with district specialists as required.
• Maintains safety of students, equipment, and facilities.
• Keeps accurate records as required by law and policy.
• Assists administration in implementing policies and classroom rules.
• Makes provision to be available to students/parents outside instructional day.
• Maintains professional competence and attends staff meetings.
• Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with staff to help solve health/learning problems.
• Selects and requisitions books and instructional aids; maintains inventory records.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
